Kitchen program and lunches
As we’re a small school, we run a student kitchen program and special lunch days instead of having a canteen.
Mondays – 'heat up' lunch day
Students can bring in an item of their choice for warming or toasting by staff (such as pastries, noodle cups, sandwiches, or left-overs).
Wednesdays – kitchen program (Koolunga Kitchen)
Our upper primary students prepare meals every Wednesday with the help of a parent volunteer. This is our ‘Koolunga Kitchen’ program.
The menu varies each week and all meals are prepared in our well-equipped school kitchen. Meals are then sold to students and teachers and act as a fundraiser for the school.
The Koolunga Kitchen program is a very valuable learning experience. Students obtain life skills such as:
- food hygiene and preparation
- health and safety
- cooking procedures
- meal presentation.
Fridays during winter – cheese toasties
Students can purchase toasted cheese sandwiches for a gold coin donation.
